Corscombe – May Services
Jean Mosser Easter service The 8.00am Easter Service was attended by about 26 people who were so impressed by the beauty of the Church, thanks to all the flower arrangers. The playgroup made a particularly nice arrangement of cardboard Easter Eggs. Little Freddie, who lives in London, and is being educated at a boarding school called ' Windlesham ' in Worthing, was staying with Mr. Bartos at the Old Vicarage next to the Church, and was most helpful in the Church on Good Friday. He dusted all the pews and polished the brass. Thank you Freddie ! and thank you flower arrangers and Ladybird's Playgroup. Paula D.
SURELY NOT IN CORSCOMBE ! A very unpleasant anonymous letter with fowl language was received by a lady resident in our village, regarding a local problem. In previous years , and mostly up to the present, Corscombe has been known for it's caring and neighbourly residents . I am shocked that this is happening here ! Please ! - - any problems regarding parked cars , dogs, children, bounderies etc. it is simple ! Just speak to the person concerned about it ! Most matters can be amicably solved by polite and friendly discussion, perhaps over a coffee ! It is a cowardly act to write anonymous letters, especially with such unpleasant language, and this is not the sort of thing we expect in our lovely village. Paula D.
CONGRATULATIONS

In Memory
We were all very sad to hear of the death of Chris Coles from Church Farm after his courageous battle to live. Our hearts go out to Jennifer, Gemma and Bryn. From Your Village Friends
Jennifer, Gemma and Bryn would like to thank everyone who sent flowers, cards and messages of sympathy. It was especially heartening to see so many villagers present at the Church Service. The sun shone very early that morning, and West Dorset looked it's very best. We felt it was truly Chris's day. Jennifer Coles
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE.

FIRST RESPONDERS
The Village Breakfast on Saturday 17th March was a huge success again - - thank you so much for supporting us. What we do need urgently is - - more recruits . This involves two whole week - ends training every three months and a dedication to help in emergencies in your area. Please ring Stuart on 891765 - - Paula 891494 - - or Geof on 891085. I am so disappointed that I can no longer attend emergencies due to a serious spinal problem. Paula D. ( Possible Village Markets at The Fox Inn - - to be confirmed on Village notice boards.)
MOANING MINNIE Where do you live ? ? In a scattered community like Corscombe, without many street names and tracks or house numbers, it is so important that your house is identified clearly, for deliveries and more importantly for the emergency services and of course our own ' First Responders '. Can your house name be seen clearly from the road ? ? Many can ! but there are some in the Village where you have to go right up to the door to peer at the little letters. There are some ( in The Barton and Linhay Lodges for example ) where the houses are not even " labelled ". What would happen on a dark night when the Ambulance, Fire Engine or First Responders can't find you ? ? It has happened . Be prepared ! Freda and Paula D.
LADYBIRD'S PLAYGROUP
Well we have just survived the dreaded Ofsted inspection. Things went find and we are glad to have an overall rating of satisfactory with 2 grades of good in amongst all the paper work (I was told by the inspector that we were bordering on an overall rating of good!). Well done to all the people involved in running the playgroup, lots of hard work by all. The first of the half term we are looking at travel and transport, comparing the way we travel now to how we travelled many years ago. The second half term we are looking at mini-beasts. Now the birds are singing and the bees are buzzing we shall try to find lots of mini critters that we can and explore their habitat and the way that they live. Our soup and hot cross buns raised about £100 towards playgroup funds. The children enjoyed making Easter bonnets and cards to take home while they worked up an appetite. We had a wonderful feast of Roast Vegetable and Butternut Squash soup made by Jo Fox from Off the Hob kitchens. We would like to thank Jo for her donation of soup towards our lunch. The delicious hot cross buns were from Halstock bakery. Our next fundraiser will be the PLANT SALE on May 26th at 11.30 onwards. If you have too many seedlings or cuttings in your greenhouse or unwanted plants and want to make room, we are also on the look out for crafts and produce. We will be appreciative of any donations. Come and join us at our plant sale, for home made cream teas in the sun. Please phone Sarah Woods 01935 891955 for more details or speak to anyone connected to the playgroup Sarah Woods

Keep Fit Summer Term
SILENCE This will be held at Gatcombe the home of Helen and John Perris on Monday May 28th 8.00pm.
MOBILE LIBRARY This will be at the Old Post Office Yard, Yew Tree House on Thursdays 26th April, 10th May, and 24th May between 11.20am and 11.45 am.
RECYCLING Please put your box and cardboard bag out on Friday 18th May. Remember the box has a division panel , bottles and jars one side and cans the other, of course the dustman does not have time to sort things out if you mix them. Please do put dustbin bags out on the dustman's day, Fridays, if they are out the previous night animals distribute the rubbish all over the place. We do need to keep the Village tidy. Those that can, please put dustbins out with a brick on the top, this saves the wind taking the lid, and helps to stop animals raiding the bins.
COOKES BUS SERVICE This picks up at ' Lindisfarne ' High Street at approximately 10.35 / 10.40am (ish) Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, then stopping at The Barton, Pine Close and Church Farm if anyone is waiting there. It returns from Tesco's Yeovil at about 1.45pm and from the Memorial at about1.50pm.
