Corscombe Open Gardens 2006.

What a fantastic weekend for an 'open gardens'. The gardens were in great shape with lots of colour and a wide variety of plants and garden designs.

The ‘Scarecrow’ competition was very closely fought for the honours but after much deliberation the result was a draw for first place between Nobby Scannell helped by Lulu Denham and Sammy-Jo Button, Leah and Daisy of Maidenhayes and Emily and James Robertson with their topical footballer. The adult winner was Paula Bowles with her ‘Wimbledon’ junior star! The cream teas, cakes, and ice creams did very well too.

I would like to personally thank the First Responders members and spouses and friends for all their hard work in selling programs, teas, ices, moving tables and chairs and all the other jobs that needed doing to make the event so successful. We were short of help but we managed!! I would like to thank all the people who ‘opened’ their gardens for their kindness and hospitality to all the visitors. They came from Bournemouth, Portland, Axminster, Honiton, Wincanton and all places in between to see our beautiful village and you did the village proud, your lawns and flowers were as stunning as ever.

Some views of our pretty village roads.

We raised the sum of £476, a very welcome increase to our funds.

We look forward to seeing you all at the next Village Markets on the 1st July or the 5th August at the Fox Inn.
